Pedro Figari no sólo fue criminólogo en su ejercicio profesional, como la defensa del Alférez Ameida, o la legislación contra la pena de muerte; también fue teórico, como lo demuestra su amistad con Lombroso, Garofalo y Ferri. Sus pinturas demuestran la permanencia del tema en su pensamiento.
